Creature Feature!

Greetings to all my friends out there!

First of all, thank you so much for your interest and support throughout the year, it’s been great meeting and communicating with all of you, and I do appreciate your patronage, and your fun commission ideas.

My website expansion will begin this fall and will include a new Thoroughbred coloring book, some new originals for sale, and a wildlife page and a strictly canine page as well.

It’s been a whirlwind year! It started with being elected to the Board of the Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society. In my capacity as Chair of Sales and Marketing I was instrumental in bringing Gary Stevens, legendary jockey of Hall of Fame and Seabiscuit movie fame to Alberta for our Yearling Sale. Gary was a wonderful speaker, and a lot of fun too. Thanks Gary! Much appreciated, and all the best in your new endeavor as Thoroughbred trainer and congrats to you and Angie on your brand new baby girl.

The media connection continued, when one of our riding horses, Bart, a jet black Missouri Foxtrotter made it to the set of the CBC show Heartland. Purchased by John Scott we look forward to seeing him on TV from the comfort of our living room. Go Bart!

I had another dream realized this year when I was handed the reins to drive a pair of heavy horses (Belgians) belonging to a friend, Stan Grad. It was scary and fun all at the same time. The power in those haunches is just awesome.

I was chosen also to create a commission for presentation to Hall of Fame driver, Keith Clark, a most generous gift from one of his clients, James Downer. Thanks James, you’re the best! And congrats to Keith on his 2009 induction into the Canadian Racing Hall of Fame.

With the upcoming Secretariat movie in 2010, we purchased our own version of that famous chestnut in the form of Big Apple Red a gorgeous two year old filly, who can trace her pedigree back to the great horse himself through her dam’s line. We hope she’ll do us proud at the racetrack next year.

Oh, and last but not least we have the Alberta Yearling sale topper, Emily Carr (yes, named for the famous Canadian artist) out munching happily in the paddock. Let’s hope she turns into a ‘fast carr’ for us!!

Thanks again, looking forward to your emails!
Elaine Macpherson
